The obverse bears a left facing portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by Suat Özyönüm (*33, p. 45). The inscription around the effigfy reads “TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ” Republic of Türkiye
On the reverse, denomination is stated with a large numeral 1, and below that the currency “TÜRK LİRASI” (Turkish Lira) and the year 2022 is inscribed. Design of this reverse is selected through a competition in 2008, and is the work of Barış Kara
